We've introduced our rams to their ladies earlier in October 2010. Here's what we've done and what we're expecting and hoping for for results. Don't quote me on the chances for inheritance of traits since these were figured quickly in my head. |
Padi has 25% AI genetics from Gaerllwyd Mustard which is also where his 25% chance of carrying self comes from. |
We are completely sold out of Soays for 2010, but if you're interested in 2011 lambs, please contact us to place a deposit. We have put together breeding groups with Quercus and our new 100% British rams Royton and Padiham. |

This mating will produce 75% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan in Padi and spotting in Cerulean. Cerulean has a good chance of producing twins this season. |
This mating will produce 73% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan and crossing our fingers to prove self in Padi. Magenta produced twins last season, and we're hoping for the same this season. |
This mating will produce 75% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan in Padi. Sandpiper has produced twins the last two seasons, and we're expecting the same this season since she is in phenomenal condition. |
This mating will produce 94% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan in Padi. Tilia is an average-sized ewe lamb that we think has a better than 50% chance of getting bred this season. |
This mating will produce 100% British offspring. Halesworth & Padi share the same AI grandfather which is also where she gets her chance of carrying self. The odds of producing a self colored lamb are 1 in 64, the odds of producing a tan lamb are about 1 in 13, which makes the odds of producing a chocolate about 1 in 832 if she lambs in the spring (it's good to have dreams, no?). Halesworth is above average in size, and we expect that she will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 100% British offspring. Waldingfield is above average in size as a ewe lamb, and we expect that she will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 75% British offspring. We're hoping to prove spotting in Royton and will produce tan. Crimson has a good chance of producing twins this season. |
This mating will produce 88% British offspring. We're hoping to produce tan. Kathie has twinned consistently, but as she gets older she's not rebounding from lambing as well, so we'll take what we get - Kathie will be retiring here at HTH when we decide that she's no longer fit to be bred. |
This mating will produce 63% British offspring. We're hoping to produce tan. Sienna has produced our largest single lambs the last two seasons, so we're hoping she'll produce twins in her third lambing. |
This mating will produce 100% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan in Keddington. Keddington is above average in size as a ewe lamb, and we expect that she will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 100% British offspring. We're hoping to prove tan in Mattishall. Mattishall is above average in size, and we expect that she will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 100% British offspring. We're hoping to produce tan. Reepham is above average in size, and we expect that she will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 56% British offspring. We're hoping to prove self and spotting in Alice and produce tan. Alice is an unbred yearling that we expect will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 56% British offspring. We're hoping to produce tan and prove spotting in Betula. Betula displays what we can only describe as reduced patterning. She is a dark tan with medium tan patterning. She is a very large ewe lamb that we expect will get bred this season. |
This mating will produce 49% British offspring. We're not expecting Hannah to get bred since she's a rather tiny girl. She is strong and well built, but has been slow growing. In the off chance that she does get bred we're hoping to produce self and prove tan in Hannah. |
This mating will produce 56% British offspring. We're hoping to produce a spotted tan. Ostrya is average in size as a ewe lamb, and we give her a 50/50 chance of getting bred this season. |
This mating will produce 63% British offspring. We're hoping to produce a spotted tan. Susan gave us Ostrya as a ewe lamb, and we expect that she will produce another single this season. |
Quercus is triple het and what we have termed "black mouflon." He was born jet black with limited patterning on his belly, under his tail, and just a touch on the end of his chin. He's beautiful with a shy but gentle temperament. |
Tobi comes from Common Threads Farm and is the most mellow and friendly sheep we have ever met. He has an excellent horn set and very good conformation. We expect that Tobi will be a long-termer here at HTH since we likely will never be able to part with him. |
Anya is a lovely badger ewe from CTF with an obviously kind heart. She had a rough start in life when she separated from her flock and nearly died. Due to this she is on the small side for a yearling (looking more like a large lamb), but she is well built and we expect that she will do just fine as a mother. |
Greta comes from Salmonberry Farm. She is a large ewe lamb with an exceptional personality. |
Irina (named because of her resemblance to Melissa) also comes from Salmonberry Farm and is our only unregistered Icelandic. She is a small ewe lamb that was a tiny triplet born at just under 3 pounds. However, for her small frame she is very stocky and a definitely a little spitfire. |
Katya is a large ewe lamb that comes from Salmonberry Farm. She is a wonderful, gentle soul and we're excited to meet her and Tobi's lambs. |
Willow is our only mouflon and she comes from CTF. She is average in size as a lamb and has a lovely fleece and curious temperament. |
After plenty of searching for the right ram with an exceptional personality, we were lucky to come across Icy Acres and find this exceptional ram. Chiaro is a monstrously large lamb with a frame as large as our biggest adult ewe at only 7 months old and he continues to grow rapidly. We expect him to add size to our flock and perpetuate his great personality! |
An adult ewe from CTF, Brigitta is a massive ewe that hasn't bred since her first season when she produced a large single. She appears to be cycling normally and Chiaro took an early shining to her. We're crossing our fingers that she lambs for us in the Spring. |
Gingie is another adult ewe from CTF and is a universal favorite ewe here at HTH. She has a stand-out personality that keeps her from standing out unless one takes notice of the girl that stands quietly and patiently and hopefully at a respectful distance while the others storm the grain bucket. An all around great Icelandic! |
A yearling ewe originally from the now-dispersed Dwyer flock, Millie is a classic Icelandic beauty. She is short legged, long and exceptionally broad and well muscled. What she may carry is a mystery, but she and Chiaro will likely produce fast-growing meat wagons. |
Our largest ewe lamb, Ursula comes from Salmonberry Farm. She has a great fleece and very good conformation. |
