our breeding stock and 2011 offspring |

Soay sheep are a miniature primitive breed originally from St. Kilda, a group of islands off the coast of Scotland. Although they are rare, Soay are very hardy and easy keepers. This article from Hobby Farms magazine is a good place to start for basic information about Soay. Please note that our use of the terms "British" and "American" when describing our Soay follows the conventions established in the Open Flockbook Project (OFP), since that is currently the major repository of genetic information on Soay in North America. The pedigrees of all our Soay can be researched through the OFP, and our British Soay are also registered through the Rare Breeds Survival Trust (RBST). |
